    PRESIDENT JULIUS NYERERE OF TANZANIA FLEW TO THE NORTHERN ZAMBIAN TOWN OF ABERCORN ON WEDNESDAY (DEC 14) FOR A BRIEF MEETING WITH ZAMBIA'S PRESIDENT KENNETH KUANDA. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE GREETED THE TANZANIAN PRESIDENT AT THE LOCAL AIRSTRIP, WHERE THE TWO PRESIDENTS MET. AFTERWARDS, MR. KUANDA AND MR. NYERERE HAD TALKS LASTING FOUR HOURS. THEY ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE DISCUSSED RHODESIA AND OTHER MATTERS OF MUTUAL INTEREST.

    CROWDS HAD WAITED AT THE ABERCORN AIRSTRIP SINCE THE PREVIOUS DAY, WHEN PRESIDENT NYERERE WAS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE. HOWEVER, HE HAD BEEN HELD UP BY A FAULT IN HIS AIRCRAFT. WHEN HE DID ARRIVE, HE WAS GREETED BY TRADITIONAL DANCERS AND PEOPLE HOLDING BANNERS OF WELCOME.

    AFTER THE TALKS, PRESIDENT KUANDA COMMENTED: "NOTHING EVER GOES WRONG BETWEEN ZAMBIA AND TANZANIA. IT IS A CHAIN OF SUCCESS."
