Background: Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday (12 December) at the start of a seven day official visit to India.
SYNOPSIS: His Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Morarji Desai, was at New Delhi's Palam Airport to greet Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee, who is accompanied by his wife, has a hectic schedule ahead of him. During his one week stay in the sub-continent, he will hold talks with Mr. Desai and Indian officials as well as visit many of India's most famous tourist attractions. On Thursday (14 December) the couple visit the ancient city of Agra where they will be shown the Bharatpur Bird Santuary and, in the evening, they will view the Taj Mahal by moonlight. Their tour will also take them to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore and Madras. The Singapore Prime Minister flies home on Monday (18 December).
