  • Description

THE PEOPLE IN THE LITTLE VILLAGE OF COLONIA CARASCO HAVE DUG DEEP INTO THEIR POCKETS TO PUT ON A COLOURFUL SHOW OF WELCOME FOR VISITORS TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES. THE PEOPLE OF THE VILLAGE ARE POOR, BUT THEY HAVE BOUGHT PAINT TO DECORATE ALL THE HOUSES IN BRIGHT COLOURS AND TO WRITE WELCOME SIGNS ON THE WALLS. COLONIA CARASCO STANDS ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY TO THE AZTEC STADIUM. THE MAIN CENTRE FOR THE GAMES.

IT TOOK A LOT OF MONEY AND A LOT OF WORK ON THE PART OF THE VILLAGERS, BUT THEIR EFFORT PROVIDES AN ATTRACTIVE, EYE-CATCHING DASH OF COLOUR.

THEY HAVE REPAINTED THEIR HOMES IN RED, GREEN, YELLOW AND BLUE, AND SOME HAVE STRIPES. THE WORD "WELCOME" HAS BEEN PAINTED ON THE WALLS IN FIVE DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND FLAGS HUNG OUT ON THE ROOFS AND TV AERIALS.
