Background: Leaders of the Arab countries met in Cairo yesterday to discuss the worsening situation on Jordan and appoint a peace team to go to Amman.
The meeting took the place of the Arab Summit Conference scheduled for Cairo but later postponed.
The Arab leaders chose their four-man team for Amman and it was reported late last night to have already met King Hussein. The party also hope to have a meeting with Yasser Arafat with view to bringing the fighting in Jordan to an end.
Today (Wednesday) other Arab leaders were still assembled in Cairo waiting to hear from their peace mission.
President Nureddin el Atassi of Syria, who was at yesterday's talks, flew home to Damascus today.
