    In Brazzaville on Wednesday (21 April), experts from 27 African countries met to discuss methods of setting up programmes of rural water supply throughout Africa. The Seminar, scheduled to last until Tuesday (27 April), has been organised by the World Health Organisation.

    Many people in rural parts of Africa take water from polluted natural sources -- such as streams and water holes. This situation encourages the spread of water-borne diseases. The WHO Seminar aims to organise and implement better methods of supply.

    SYNOPSIS: In Brazzaville on Wednesday, water supply experts from 27 African countries met to discuss methods of setting up programmes of rural water supply throughout Africa. The seven-day seminar has bene organised by the World Health Organisation in an attempt to combat the spread of water-borne diseases.

    Many people in Africa still take water form naturally polluted sources....such as streams and water holes. The World Health Organisation hopes that the seminar will motivate experts to plan better community supplies to overcome this health hazard.

    The officials representing the African countries at the seminar hope to go even further. Their aim is to set out the initial guidance of the actual construction of community supply.
