    Health Ministers from the four western african Commonwealth countries, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana and gambia, met in Lagos on Monday (November 12th, 1973) for the opening of the West African Commonwealth Health Secretariat Headquarters.

    Formed in May this year, the Secretariat was established to co-ordinate health programmes between the four member countries. It has already agreed to set up a West African Post Graduate College for physicians and surgeons.

    The organisation's current headquarters, donated by the Nigerian Government, are only temporary. The Nigerian Government has promised to construct modern headquarters in the near future.
