THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE PRIME MINISTER, MAJOR GENERAL NGUYEN KHANH, SAID AT THE CEREMONY IN THE REPUBLIC STADIUM THAT THE GOVERNMENT PLANNED TO CLOSE A NUMBER OF RE-EDUCATION CENTRES--DETENTION CAMPS FOR POLITICAL PRISONERS.

PREMIER NGUYEN KHANH SAID THAT TWENTY THOUSAND POLITICAL AND MILITARY DETAINEES AND ORDINARY PRISONERS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY WERE ALSO BEING REALIZED OR HAVING THEIR SENTENCES REDUCED.
