Armed police ring buildings as part of the stringent precautions enforced by public health authorities. Nobody is allowed in or out, Four clerks and two patients attempting to break out of the hospital were turned back by baton wielding police. American servicemen and their families from the 'Patrick Henry Village' (Headquarters of US Forces in Europe) are rolling up their sleeves to receive lifesaving vaccine. Loudspeaker vans tour the streets urging the civil population to take advantage of the mass vaccinations organised by the authorities.

Carrier of this present outbreak was a Dr. Grummp, a doctor at the Ludolf-Krehl hospital, who has discovered to have contracted the disease on his return from a trip to Asia. Dr. Grummp refused to be vaccinated when a child. His wife, who travelled with him, has not so far succumbed.
