The leading United States' baseball pitcher -- Nolan Ryan -- was very successful with the California Angels team last season. As the new one begins, he seems set to do even better.
His main weapon last season was that he made it exceptionally difficult for the strikers to sport the difference between his fast ball and his curve ball.
This season he is adding the change-up to his pitching repetoire.
He is expected to beat his amazing record of last season when he gained 383 "strike outs", "non-hitters" and 21 "wins".
SYNOPSIS: Nolan Ryan did everything but win the Young award last year with the California Angles -- all time "strikeout" record of three-eighty-three. "two no hitters", twenty-one "victories". Ryan credits his improved curve ball for much of his success, and pitching coach Tom Morgan agrees.
And his main emphasis this season, he says, is to improve his control.
For the record, Ryan has been nineteen and sixteen and twenty-one and sixteen with the Angles -- and they have been a losing club. Ryan says he knows the American league hitters now and he should be even better.
