    TWENTY-YEAR-OLD CALIFORNIAN MISS MARY MAIRS FINISHED SECOND, AND THE VETERAN ITALIAN STAR, CAPTAIN RAIMONDO D'INZEO, WAS THIRD.

    IN THE JUMP-OFF, ROBESON (RIDING FIRECREST) PUSHED HIS MOUNT OVER THE EIGHT OBSTACLES WITHOUT FAULT IN 48 SECONDS. MISS MAIRS (ON TOMBOY) ALSO HAD A CLEAR ROUND, CUT HER TIME OF 49.8 SECONDS WAS 1.8 SECONDS BEHIND THE BRITISH RIDER.

    CAPTAIN D'INZEO (ON BELLS OF CLONMELL) HAD FOUR FAULTS IN 49.1 SECONDS IN THE EARLIER JUMP-OFF. ALL TOLD, 28 RIDERS COMPLETED IN THE EVENT.

    HOWEVER, CONSOLATION FOR THE AMERICAN GIRL -- SHE WAS AWARDED THE SADDLE OF HONOUR FOR THE GAINING THE GREATEST NUMBER OF POINTS ON THE ONE HORSE IN THE OVERALL COMPETITIONS.
