    The redwood trees were old when America was young. They are not a part of our heritage...we are a part of theirs.

    Like the elk that find shelter under them, the redwoods Narken Rack to the time when this was a frontier.

    Once, there were two million acres of redwoods. Now, 85 percent of them are gone. By the year two thousand, except for those protected in parks, the last of the virgin redwoods will be gone.

    They will have been turned into plywood, and paper, and fence posts. This year the Senate passed a bill creating a Redwood National Park. As soon as it was passed, Georgia Pacific contended the boundary had been drawn, and began cutting trees just outside the park, without ever waiting for the House of act.

    These trees were cut by Georgia Pacific 100 yards from the proposed boundary of the park. The company says it is trying to avoid the park.

    Adults cannot impose their morality on teenagers.

    This group just started a few months ago, but is growing.. and will probably soon spread to several cities throughout the state.
