  • Description

Piero Rollo, of Italy become bantamweight champion of Europe when he beat Italian defender, Mario D'Agata, on points over 15 rounds at Cagliari, Sardinia, October 12.

Former world champion D'Agata, master of swings and jabs to the body, was worn down by an opponent using tactics. There was little in it up to the eight round when D'Agata a deaf mute received a cut of the eyebrow.

Rollo then concentrated on D'Agata's face. By the last round he was showing definite superiority.

The victory was enthusiastically cheered by a 25,00 crowd at the open-air stadium.
