  • Description

The lebanese Prime Minister, Mr Saeb Salam, denying reports of a rift between the army and the Palestine guerrillas in his country, told reporters on Sunday (September 17) that his government's policy was one of continued friendship towards the refugees. After a three-hour secret session of Parliament, and following a two-hour meeting with guerrilla leader Yasser Arafat, he also spoke about the state of emergency in the Lebanon following Israeli army and air force strikes against border guerrilla bases. He then accused Israel of driving the Palestinians from their Romes by 'atrocious aggression over 34 years'. His government's only concern, he said, was to give them refuge and assist them.
