    THE FOURTEEN NEW ASTRONAUTS BEGAN CLASSES ON MONDAY - THE START OF THEIR TRAINING FOR AMERICA'S NEXT BIG SPACE PROJECTS - THE TWO-MAN GEMINI AND APOLLO MOON FLIGHTS.

    THE MEN HAVE ALL MOVED WITH THEIR FAMILIES TO THE TRAINING CENTRE AT HOUSTON, TEXAS. FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THEY WILL STUDY MATHEMATICS AND ASTRONOMY, SPENDING HOUR IN THE SPECIAL PLANETARIUM DOME LEARNING CELESTIAL FORMATIONS.

    THIS TRAINING WILL BE FOLLOWED BY SPECIALIZED COURSES AT THE MANNED SPACECRAFT CENTRE IN PREPARATION FOR THE ACTUAL SPACE FLIGHTS.

    OF THE FOURTEEN, TWO ARE CIVILIANS - R. WALTER CUNNINGHAM, 31, AND RUSSELL L. SCHWEICKART, 27.

    SEVEN OF THE TEAM COME FROM THE AIR FORCE. THEY ARE: CAPTAIN CHARLES BASSETT, 31, CAPTAIN THEODORE FREEMAN, 33, CAPTAIN DAVID SCOTT, 30, CAPTAIN MICHAEL COLLINS, 32, MAJOR EDWIN ALDRIN, 33, CAPTAIN WILLIAM ANDERS, 30, CAPTAIN DON EISELE 33.

    FROM THE NAVY THERE ARE COMMANDER RICHARD GORDON, 34, LIEUTENANT ROGER CHAFFEE, 28, LIEUTENANT ALAN BEAN 31, LIEUTENANT EUGENE CERNAN, 29.

    THE FOURTEENTH MAN IN THE TEAM COMES FROM THE MARINE CORPS. HE IS CAPTAIN CLIFTON WILLIAMS, 31.
