Hollywood said goodbye to Ronald Coleman at the All Saints by the Sea Episcopal Church near Santa Barbara today. A fond farewell for the man who died of pneumonia last Monday at the age of 67...leaving behind a wife, Benita Hume, 13-year-old daughter Juliet, and fond memories among thousands of friends and fans.
For this was the Ronald Coleman of hundred pictureslike "Lost Horizons" and NA Tale of Two Cities." An Academy Award winner. The College President of Radio and Television's erudite "Halls of Ivory" series and Jack Benny's one time next door neighbour.
The Ronald Coleman of the soft accent of his native England..the much imitated accent that had kept him a star for more than 30 years.
There were many famous faces among the mourners...including William Powell, one of the closest friends of the family. And there were Jack Benny, Herbert Marshall, June Allyson, Vincent Price, George Sanders, Joseph Cotten.
Finally Benita Hume, Coleman's wife, escorted by Ronald's friend, Bill Powell...and his daughter Juliet with Richard Bartholmess...to say farewell to a gentleman of Hollywood.
