    Background: This coverage is of the evacuation of American citizens and Cambodians from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

    Operation EAGLE PULL, the evacuation of Americans and Cambodians from Phnom Penh, involved eight U. S. Navy ships, 36 helicopters (12 of which were U. S. Air Force helicopters), 20 tactical aircraft, and 316 U. S. Marines. Together they successfully evacuated a total of 276 persons who were taken by helicopter from Phnom Penh to the USS OKINAWA and the USS HANCOCK. From the ships they were flown to U Tapao, Thailand.
