    THE U.N.OBSERVERS WERE FROM DENMARK AND NORWAY.PAKISTAN WAS REPORTED YESTERDAY TO HAVE TOLD U THANT THAT IT WOULD PREFER THE OBSERVER GROUP TO BE MADE UP OF AFRICAN, ASIAN AND LATIN AMERICAN PERSONNEL AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE STATIONED ONLY IN KASHMIR.U THANT HAS ANNOUNCED THAT NEW ZEALAND WOULD SEND FIVE ADDITIONAL OBSERVERS TO JOIN THE TEAM.

    IN CAIRO, MR KRISHNA MENON, PERSONAL ENVOY OF MR SHASTRI, OUTLINED THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE INDO-PAKISTAN SITUATION TO PRESIDENT NASSER IN A TWO-HOUR MEETING YESTERDAY (SATURDAY).MR.MENON TOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE LATER THAT THERE WAS NO LACK OF UNDERSTANDING IN EGYPT OF THE SITUATION EXISTING BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN.HE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO SECRET ABUT OFFERS MADE BY EGYPT TO TRY AND MAKE PEACE BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN BUT ADDED THAT THERE WERE NO GROUNDS FOR MEDIATION NOW, SINCE THE U.N.WAS IN CHARGE OF THE SITUATIONS.
