    Two strong-room doors - claimed to be the largest ever made in Europe - are on their way to Canada, where they are to be installed into the new head office of the Bank of Montreal.

    Each door weighs 33 tons and is 3 ft. 6 in. thick, but even so can easily be swung open or shut. Ten feet in height, the door's contain a complicated system of heavy bolts and automatic devices for preventing thieves breaking in.

    Made by Chubb and Son, of Wolverhampton, the protective doors will also provide a symbolic centre-piece in the public section of the bank. They are made of stainless steel, bronze and steel alloy.
