    TWO COMMONWEALTH ARTISTS THIS MONTH ARE HAVING SOME OF THEIR PAINTINGS EXHIBITED AT THE COMMONWEALTH INSTITUTE ART GALLERY IN LONDON. THE ARTISTS ARE EVE DE NEGRI, OF LONDON, WHOSE PAINTINGS DEMONSTRATE THE WAY OF LIFE OF NIGERIA, AND AUBREY WILLIAMS, OF BRITISH GUIANA. BOTH EXHIBITIONS WILL HANG AT THE COMMONWEALTH INSTITUTE UNTIL JUNE 27.

    EVE DE NEGRI - HER FATHER WAS AN ITALIAN PAINTER - STUDIED ART IN ENGLAND, AND WORKED FOR A TIME AS A FASHION DESIGNER IN ENGLAND AND FRANCE. SHE LEFT ENGLAND IN 1959 TO VISIT NIGERIA, AND SINCE THEN HAS MADE FREQUENT VISITS TOT HAT COUNTRY. SHE HAS HELD A NUMBER OF EXHIBITIONS IN NIGERIA.

    AUBREY WILLIAMS, AGED THIRTY NINE, BEGAN HIS WORKING LIFE AS A CIVIL SERVANT IN BRITISH GUIANA. HE SETTLED IN LONDON IN 1954 AND STUDIED ART AT THE FAMOUS SAINT MARTIN'S SCHOOL OF ART.
