    Background: The Shah of Iran and Empress Farah arrived in Moscow by air on Tuesday (October 11) for a ten-day official visit, and within hours the Shah had talks with Soviet leaders.

    The Shah and his wife were greeted at the airport by President Nikolai Podgorny and Premier Alexei Kosygin. Communist Party chief Leonid Brezhnev joined the party later for talks in the Kremlin.

    Tass News Agency said they exchanged views on bilateral relations and international problems of interest to both sides.

    Later the Shah said he hopes shortly to conclude a 15-year agreement on economic and technical co-operation with the Soviet Union; but he did not say whether he expects the agreement to be signed during his visit.
