Italian Prime Minister, Emillie Colombo, at present on his first foreign visit since coming to office, had discussions with France's President Pompidou today (Friday) on the formation of a European Economic and Monetary Union.

At a luncheon held in Mr Colombo's honour, President Pompidou sounded & warning for the planned Union. He said that the Common Market partners were heading for failure if they under estimated the difficulties ahead. But the French President said he hoped the six would reach agreement based on "realistic proposals" at a meeting to be held in Brussels next month.

Mr Colombo arrived in Paris this morning. He went straight to the Elysee Palace to being discussions with President Pompidou who earlier this week held similar discussions on the Union with Herr Wily Brandt of West Germany.
