The Khmer Republic Foreign Minister, Mr. Long Porrate, arrived in Amman on Wednesday (7 March) with a party of Khmer officials on a three-day visit to Jordan.
The Khmer delegates flew to Amman as guests of Jordan's Foreign Minister, Mr. Salah Abu Zeid.
On the first day of the visit, the party from the Khmer Republic were given an audience with King Hussein, and then the Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmen A-Lawzi. Later, they went on an official visit to the Jordan University.
In Amman, Mr. Long told newsmen that him mission to Jordan meant a lot in his hopes to strengthen the relationships between the two countries.
SYNOPSIS: The Foreign Minister of the Khmer Republic, Mr. Long Porrate was greeted by the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Mr. Salah Abu Zeid when he arrived in Amman on Wednesday with a delegation of officials from the Khmer Republic, Mr. Long and his party had been invited to Jordan for a three-day official visit.
At a brief meeting in Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Long presented a gift from his government to his Jordanian counterpart. He said his visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between Jordan and the Khmer Republic. Mr. Long also discussed the Middle East crisis. He told the Jordanian Foreign Minister that his country supported the Security Council's resolution which called for Israel to withdraw from occupied Arab territories.
After the meeting with Mr. Salah Abu Zeid, the Khmer Foreign Minister was officially greeted by the Prime Minister of Jordan, Mr. Ahmed A-Lawzi, in the Prime Minister's residence.
The Prime Minister told Mr. Long and his delegation that they were exceptionally welcome guests of his Government and his country.
Prime Minister Ahmed A-Lawzi was presented with a token of thanks from the Khmer Republic.
Mr. Long told the Prime Minister that it was his wish to help pave the way for closer ties between the Khmer Republic and all Middle East countries. Mr. Long's visit to Jordan ends his delegation's tour to several African countries and France.
