    An International Teaching League conference opened in Dakar, capital of Senegal, on Tuesday (July 28). The week-long conference is the first held by the League in Africa.

    About 350 delegates from 45 countries are studying problems related to adult and youth education during the conference.

    Senegal's prime Minister, M. Abdou Diouf, opening the congress told delegates that in the current international year of education it was necessary for countries to become aware of the problems of eduction in respect to people's development.

    M. Diouf also said that his country liked to consider student protest as "positive dialogue".

    SYNOPSIS: An International Teaching League conference opened in Dakar, capital of Senegal, on Tuesday. Three hundred and fifty delegates from 45 countries were welcomed by M. Coulibaly, the President of the league in Senegal.

    Senior League officials including the President of the world body, spoke at the opening session of the conference, which is the first held by the League in Africa.

    In attendance were a UNESCO observer and Senegalese leaders, including M. Doudou N'Gom, Minister for Technical Instruction M. Assane Seck, National Education Minister; Prime Minister M. Abdou Diuof; M. Lamine Diack, Youth and Sport Minister: and M. Moustapha Niasse, the Cabinet Director.

    Prime Minister Diouf, opening the congress, told delegates that it was necessary for countries to become aware of the problems of education in respect to people's development. The delegates will study problems related to adult and youth education during the week-long conference.
