A total of 55 major cases were listed for hearing when the September Criminal Sessions of the Sierra Leone High Court opened in Freetown on Tuesday (September 21). Among the cases Listed were three of murder, sever manslaughter and five of sanious assault.
To mark the occasion, High Court judge, Mr. Justice Rowland E. A. Harding, unseated a guard of honour, mounted by a detachment of the Sierra Leone Police Force.
SYNOPSIS: Hundreds of people lined the streets in Freetown on Tuesday to watch the colourful opening ceremony of the September session of the Sierra Leone High Court.
A guard of honour mounted by the Sierra Leone Police Force was stationed outside the Court building for the ceremony.
The Police Force band was on parade for official opening ceremony which was presided over by High Court Judge, Mr. Justice Rowland E. A. Harding.
The Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. J.K. Koroma, was also on the official dais.
After inspecting the guard of honour, Mr. Justice Harding returned to the court building to begin hearing some of the 55 cases listed for the September Session
The cases listed for trial include three of Murder, seven of manslaughter and five of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
