Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, has warned her country's Opposition party leaders against what she has described as "loose talk about war with Pakistan over the Bangla Desh issue." Such talk, she said, benefited only Pakistan "and diverted attention from the real issues and enabled Islamabad to secure more aid from its friends."
Mrs. Gandhi was also quoted as saying her Government was doing all it could to help the cause of Bangla Desh but would not be "driven to taking precipitate action because of domestic political pressure."
Meantime, in New Delhi, more than a thousand workers demonstrated outside the United States Embassy on Monday (June 28) demanding a complete ban on the supply of arms to Pakistan. The demonstration was organised by the Delhi State Council of the Communist Party of India.
A strong squad of police was on duty outside the Embassy and there were several minor confrontations. The Police arrested on woman, but she was later released.
