    MORE THAN 80 DELEGATES FROM 17 AFRICAN AND FRENCH SPEAKING COUNTRIES HAVE ARRIVE IN LIBREVILLE, GABON, TO TAKE PART IN A CONFERENCE OF EDUCATION MINISTERS. THE CONFERENCE OPENED THIS WEEK (MONDAY).

    AMONG THE DELEGATES FOR THE CONFERENCE ARE M. ALAIN PEYREFITTE AND M. CARDINAL, THE FRENCH AND QUEBEC PROVINCE EDUCATION MINISTERS.

    THE NEWLY INSTALLED PRESIDENT OF GABON, M. ALBERT BONGO, MADE A SPEECH TO DELEGATES ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE FIVE-DAY CONFERENCE. THE CONFERENCE AGENDA INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL ECONOMY (PLANNING AND ORIENTATION), POST-PRIMARY TRAINING AND INTEGRATION INTO THE AFTER-SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT. OTHER SUBJECTS DISCUSSED WERE THE RECRUITING OF TEACHERS AND ADAPTATION OF SCIENCE AND FRENCH SYLLABI.

    THE CONFERENCE IS SPONSORED BY THE UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL ORGANISATION (UNESCO). ALL COUNTRIES REPRESENTED ARE PLEDGED TO GET FROM 70 TO 100 PER CENT OF THEIR CHILDREN OF SCHOOL AGE INTO SCHOOL IN THE SHORTEST TIME POSSIBLE.
