Background: In compliance with the provisions of the Joint Communique signed in Paris on June 13, 1973, the U.S. Navy's Task Force 78 resumed mine clearing operations along the coastal and inland waterways of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam).

The communique also provided for ongoing negotiations between representatives of the DRV and the U.S. This film shows the delegations of both parties aboard the USS TRIPOLI, where they were involved in technical discussions concerning the conduct and coordination of future mine clearing operations. The meetings are held alternately aboard U.S. ships and land sites selected by the DRV delegation.
