    Israel's future ties with the European Economic Community have been discussed in Tel Aviv following the arrival there on Wednesday (14 February) of an E.C.E delegation.

    The group was headed by Mr. Helmut Sigrist, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the E.E.C.

    The talks were centred around a new preferential agreement for Israeli goods exported to Europe which will be signed net January.

    The delegation comprises 28 senior officials of the E.E.C. and includes representatives of the Common Market nations, Eire, Italy, France, Denmark, Belgium, West Germany, United Kingdom, Holland and Luxembourg.

    Heading the Israeli delegation were the meeting president Moshe Alon and Finance Minister Avraham Agmon.

    Before leaving on a short visit to Britain, Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban said it was significant that the committee should meet for the first time in Israel. He hoped it heralded even closer relations between Israel and Europe.

    SYNOPSIS: Members of an European Economic Community joint commission arrive at the knesset... or parliamentary building... in Tel Aviv for an important meeting with Israeli officials on the future of Israel's ties with the European community. The delegation comprises twenty-eight officials of the Common Market body.

    Main talks were centred around a new preferential agreement for Israeli goods exported to Europe which will be signed next January.

    The delegation, headed by the Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the E.E.C., Mr. Helmut Sigrist, includes delegates from the Common Market nations, Eir, Italy, France, Denmark, Belgium, West Germany, United Kingdom, Holland and Luxembourg.

    Heading the Israeli delegation were the meeting president Moshe Alon, and the Finance Minister, Avraham Agmon. Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban, who left earlier for Britain, expressed hope of even closer relations between Israel and Europe.
