    KENYA'S ATTORNEY-GENERAL, MR. CHARLES NJONJO, INSPECTED A POLICE TRAINING CENTRE PASSING OUT PARADE IN EMBAKASI, NEAR NAIROBI, ON SATURDAY MORNING (12 APRIL).

    THE SCHOOL, A GENERAL SERVICE UNIT ESTABLISHMENT, TRAINS RECRUITS TO THE ADMINISTRATION POLICE. THESE ARE SPECIAL POLICE UNDER THE DIRECT CONTROL OF PROVINCIAL OR DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS. THEY WORK IN VERY REMOTE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WHERE THE NORMAL POLICE DO NOT OPERATE. ENFORCING LAW AND TAX PAYMENT, AND CARRYING OUT GENERAL ADMINISTRATION DUTIES FOR THEIR DISTRICT.

    WHEN THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL ARRIVED, THE PARADE WAS BROUGHT TO ATTENTION AND HE WAS GIVEN A GENERAL SALUTE. MR. NJONJO CONGRATULATED THE MEN ON THEIR TURN OUT AND ALSO THANKED THE BRITISH EX-GUARDSMAN WHO TRAINED THEM. HE PRESENTED BATONS TO THE MOST OUTSTANDING TRAINEES, AND AFTERWARDS WATCHED A MARCH PAST OF THE NINETY RECRUITS - SELECTED FROM OVER 500 CANDIDATES - WHO HAD COMPLETED THE TWELVE WEEK COURSE.
