    THE PRESIDENT FLEW INTO BERLIN BY A SPECIAL AIRCRAFT FROM HAMBURG.THE OFFICIAL PARTY WAS WELCOMED AT TEMPLEHOF AIRPORT BY HERR WILLY BRANDT, MAYOR OF WEST BERLIN, PROTOCOL OFFICERS OF THE THREE WESTERN ALLIES IN THE CITY, AND MEMBERS OF THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS.

    ALL PUBLIC BUILDINGS WERE BEFLAGGED, AS PRESIDENT AHIDJO DROVE TO A VANTAGE POINT NEAR THE BRANDENBURG GATE, TO SEE THE WALL.

    BEFORE HE LEFT FOR PARIS, THE PRESIDENT SAID IN A STATEMENT: "OUR TWO COUNTRIES ARE LINKED BY HISTORIC BONDS, AND I HOPE THAT MY VISIT TO THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY AND TO WEST BERLIN WILL FURTHER STRENGTHEN THESE LINKS.
