A number of new fashions were shown for the first time in London Wednesday. The occasion was the Clothing Institute's annual get-together. Their aim was to take what they call " a forward look at fashion".
Among the first fashions to be displayed were designed for the working girl -- they included patterned smocks and coveralls with chequered motif. Another new idea was a see-through midi skirt with an Oriental-patterned back.
One model wore a plastic cape while another wore capes made of a crease-proof textile material similar to linen that's so new that it has not yet been named.
Another new innovation displayed at the show was a three-piece trouser skirt -- the trouser legs can be removed to make a trim mini-skirt suit.
The men were nor neglected in the new designs. A one-piece woollen suit made up one design, while a two-piece suit allowing for a bare midriff was another.
