  • Description

Ivory Coast President Felix Houphouet-Boigny on July first at a special meeting of the ruling Democratic Party (PDCI-RDA) spike out against the O.A.U.'s attitude to dialogue with South Africa.

He rejected the Foreign Ministers' statement at the recent OAU summit meeting condemning all attempts at such a dialogue.

President Houphouet-Boigny's approach to the problem is based on a policy of complete neutrality of the African continent.

He made his position clear at the party meeting in Abidjan "in view of the more or less distorted comments made on the outcome of the recent summit conference of the O.A.I. at Addis Ababa."
An English translation of some of the President's comments is contained in the READER OVER FRENCH SOUND section in the commentary section overleaf.
