Background: Premier Chou En-lai of the People's Republic of China on Sunday (16 July) greeted Prime Minister Mohsin Ahmed Al Aini of the Arab Republic of Yemen on the Yemeni leader's arrival in Peking for an official visit.
Prime Minister Al Aini led a delegation of the yemeni government, including Deputy supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Yemen Armed Forces, colonel Mohammed Al Eriani, Minister of Agriculture Abdul Jabar Al Mujahid, and Minister of Health Mohammed Ghaid Aghbari.
Premier Chou En-lai was accompanied by Vice-Premier Li Hsien-nien, Foreign Minister Chi Peng-fei, and Vice-Minister of National Defence Wang Shu-sheng. Also preset was General Duong Sam Oo, Minister of Military Equipment and Armament of the Royal Government of National Union of Cambodia -- Prince Sihenouk's government.
During the Yemeni Prime Minister's drive through Peking, banners decorated the streets, dreading "Firmly support the Palestinian People and the other Arab Peoples in the Just Struggle against Aggression by Israeli Zionism!" and "Firmly support the Three Indochinese Peoples in their war against U.S. Aggression and for National Salvation!".
At a banquet given for the Yemen delegation the following day (Monday 17 July), Premier Chou En-lai thanked the people of the Yemen for giving their support to the war in Indochina, and for recognising Price Sihancouk's government.
SYNOPSIS: At Peking Airport last week, Premier Chou En-lai of the People's Republic of China greeted Prime Minister Mohsin Ahmed Al Aini of the Arab Republic of Yemen.
Prime Minister Al Aini had come to Peking for an official visit at the invitation of the Chinese Government. After these initial talks, the Yemen Government delegation drove through cheering crowd and banner-laden streets to the city centre. At a later banquet for his guests, Premier Chou En-lai said that Yemen is a country with the tradition of opposing imperialism. Its people fewer giving support the war against imperialism in Vietnam, as well as to the struggle against Israel.
