  • Description

MR. MIROSLAV PAVEL, A CZECHOSLOVAK JOURNALIST, HAS RETURNED TO PRAGUE AFTER HIS EXPULSION FROM WARSAW, POLAND, WHERE HE HAD BEEN SENT TO COVER POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS. MR. PAVEL IS NOT THE ONLY JOURNALIST TO HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FROM POLAND IN THE PAST FEW DAYS, BUT HE IS THOUGHT TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST JOURNALISTS FROM A SOCIALIST EASTERN EUROPEAN TO BE EXPELLED BY ANOTHER SOCIALIST EASTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRY.

PAVEL WAS INTERVIEWED BY ERWIN JIRICEK, A FELLOW CZECHOSLOVAK JOURNALIST, WHEN HE RETURNED TO PRAGUE ON FRIDAY.

PAVEL SAID HE SPENT ONLY AN HOUR IN WARSAW. AUTHORITIES THERE TOLD HIM HE WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE, BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE HIS SAFETY DURING THE STUDENT RIOTS.

THE FOLLOWING DAY A BRITISH JOURNALIST, RICHARD DAVY OF THE TIMES, WAS ORDERED TO LEAVE POLAND, BECAUSE, IT WAS CLAIMED, HIS REPORTS OF STUDENT UNREST GAVE AN "UNBALANCED PICTURE".
