• Short Summary

Iraq's Minister for Oil, Dr. Saadoun Hummadi, is in India to negotiate a long term?

  • Description

Iraq's Minister for Oil, Dr. Saadoun Hummadi, is in India to negotiate a long term agreement for the sale of crude oil to India. On Monday (April 2) Dr. Hummadi met President Giri in the President's House, and the Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Gandhi.

India plans to buy crude oil supplies directly from the Arab Governments instead of buying through foreign oil companies, as in the past.

Dr. Hummadi heads a delegation of Iraqi experts who are working on the details of an oil agreement with Indian officials.

As the Iraqi discussions continued at Ministerial level, a six-man trade delegation from Bahrain was in the middle of a ten day visit to India. The main purpose of that trip also was to discuss the sale of crude oil to India and reciprocal economic aid.
