    South Vietnam goes to the polls on September the 3rd to elect a new President and Vice-President and 60 members of the country's first Senate. The present head of state, General Nguyen Van Thieu, is the one military candidate for the presidency. His running mate for the Vice-Presidency is Prime Minister Ky.

    Our reporter spoke to Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Professor of Political Science in the National Institute of Administration in Saigon about the coming elections. Dr. Hung was born in Hanoi but settled in South Vietnam after the partition. He graduated at Saigon Law School in 1960 and then spent five years at the University of Virginia in the United States, graduating as a Doctor of Political Science.
