  • Description

Swiss industrialist Alfred Kusser Kappeler who was kidnapped at his home in the Bolivian capital, La Paz, on Monday evening (7 June) was released by his captors the following evening. His release was not announced by the Bolivian Interior Ministry until Wednesday for security reasons. They declined to give details of the release, but the Swiss Foreign Ministry in Berne later reported that Mr. Kusser Kappeler's release had been secured by the payment of ransom money. The 62-year-old foundry manager was kidnapped by five hooded men, believed to be left-wing guerrillas, while parking his car outside his home in the suburb of Obrajes. In this film he is seen back at home with his wife. His health is reported to be satisfactory, although he's still suffering from a blow on the head. Police in La Paz are continuing their hunt for Mr Kusser Kappeler's kidnappers.
