    RUSSIA'S INGA VORONINA YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) SET A NEW RECORD WHEN SHE WON THE WOMEN'S WORLD SPEED SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE FOURTH TIME. HER VICTORY CAME AFTER HER VICTORIES IN THE ONE THOUSAND AND THREE THOUSAND METRES EVENTS, WHICH COMPLETED THE PROGRAMME FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIPS AT OULU, IN FINLAND.

    ON SATURDAY, MISS VORONINA, SET UP A LEAD IN THE OVERALL POINTS TABLE WHEN SHE WON THE FIVE HUNDRED METRES AND FINISHED FIFTH IN THE FIFTEEN HUNDRED METRES EVENTS.

    NO OTHER SKATER HAD WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP MORE THAN THREE TIMES PREVIOUSLY. SHE HAD WON IT, HERSELF, IN 1957, 1958 AND 1962, AND YESTERDAY ADDED THE 1965 TITLE TO THE ALREADY IMPRESSIVE LIST.

    IN THE ONE THOUSAND METRES EVENT, MISS VORONINA WAS TIMED AT ONE-MINUTE-37.7 SECONDS. TWO RUSSIANS TIED FOR SECOND PLACE. THEY WERE I. EGOROVA AND VALENTINA STENINA WITH A TIME OF ONE-MINUTE-39.4 SECONDS. TWO DUTCH GIRLS, STIEN KAISER AND CARRY GEYSSEN ADDED TO THE EXCITEMENT BY SHARING THE THIRD PLACE WITH A TIME OF ONE-MINUTE-40.6 SECONDS.

    MISS VORONINA WON THE THREE THOUSAND METRES IN A TIME OF FIVE-MINUTES-18.2 SECONDS. HER RIVAL VALENTINA STENINA WAS SECOND IN FIVE-MINUTES-20.4 SECONDS, WHILE STIEN KAISER, OF HOLLAND, GAINED THIRD PLACE WITH A TIME OF FIVE-MINUTES-21 SECONDS.

    INDIVIDUAL PLACINGS WERE GIVEN FOR THE BEST TIMES RECORDED IN THE HEATS OF EACH EVENT.
