    A 19-UN SALUTE BOOMED AS THE THAI LEADER STEPPED OUT OF THE SPECIAL JETLINER AND AN HONOUR GUARD OF 200 CRACK SOUTH VIETNAMESE SOLDIERS CLICKED TO ATTENTION.

    SOUTH VIETNAMESE PRIME MINISTER NGUYEN VAN LOC GREETED THE THAI LEADER AND TOGETHER THEY TOOK THE SALUTE ON A PLATFORM FACING THE HONOUR GUARD.

    REPRESENTATIVES OF OTHER ALLIES WERE ALSO PRESENT AT THE AIRPORT.

    FIELD MARSHAL THANOM IS EXPECTED TO VISIT THAI TROOPS IN THE FIELD DURING HIS STAY.

    (SPEAKING TO NEWSMEN ON HIS ARRIVAL, THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THAT THE VIETNAM WAR WAS BEING FOUGHT TO HELP ENSURE THE STABILITY AND SECURITY OF ALL THE PEOPLES OF "FREE ASIA".)
