A Sudanese trade delegation is this week having formal talks with government officials in uganda. The delegation arrived on Tuesday (II July) and is headed by Sudan' Minister of Trade and Economics, Mr. Ibrahim Mansour. The other three members are the chairman of Sudan's Tea and Coffee Trading Companies (Mr. Saad Aboulela), an official from Sudan's Ministry of Supply (Mr. Mohamed Hamad) and the Managing Director of the El Tahrir Corporation (Dr. Salma Suleiman).
The delegation was greeted at Entebbe Airport by Uganda's Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Fabian Okwaare with whom the Sudanese were expected to have talks during their stay.
The visit follows discussions in Khartoum last month between President Amin of Uganda and General El-Nimeir of Sudan. Present trade between the two countries involves the sale by Sudan of salt and cattle and the import from Uganda of tea and coffee.
The two countries hope that rade can be increased in other commodities and expect this can now be made easier since the settlement of the Southern Sudan problem, and the consequent opening up of transport routes through that area.
