    In response to an appeal from the Ceylon Government, two Scotland Yard detectives left London Airport October 28, by a 'Britania' aircraft, for Colombo, to help to investigate the murder of Premier Solomon Bandaranaike. The detectives; Chief Det. Insp. James McKay and Det. Insp. Henry Pugh, were due to arrive October 30.

    On the last day of public mourning for their late Premier, the people of Ceylon paid silent homage at his grave in Horagolla, October 25 -- exactly a month after he was mortally wounded by the bullets of a Buddhist monk assassin.

    Thousands of mourners filled past the burial spot on the Premier's estate, 40 miles outside Colombo. As a mark of reverence, many mourners lit earthen lamps and placed burning incense sticks by the grave.

    Dr. Bandaranaike died in hospital. September 26. A Buddhist priest, Somarama Theo, was arrested after the shooting. On October 14, three notable Buddhists, including the Venerable Buddharanakki the Theo, leader of a well-know Buddhist movement, were arrested in connection with the Premier's association, and appeared before a Colombo magistrate, October 28. They were remanded until November 30. Before the Court:- Buddharakkitha Theo; C. Amarasinghe, a physician and H.P. Jayawardena, a businessman. Seven days ago, Police Inspector Newton Perera was also arrested.

    In Colombo, the atmosphere surrounding the arrests and inquiries has become electric, and the Government has given police powers to detain indefinitely, and person remanded in connection with the assassination.
