  • Description

King Baudouin of Belgium flew from Brussels June 21 to visit headquarters of NATO's Second Allied Tactical Air Force at Moenchen-Gladbach, West Germany. An international guard of honour, comprising servicemen from five nations -- Belgium, Canada, Holland, Britain and West Germany -- paraded before the Belgian ruler on his arrival.

After viewing a fly-past of 36 jet planes of SATAF, King Baudouin was briefed by allied officers on the role of SATAF within the NATO framework. Later, he flew by helicopter to the Royal Air Force base at Goch to visit the tactical operations centre before going on to Larrbruch RAF base for a display of aircraft and equipment.
