Background: American troops returned to the plateau base of Khe Sanh in South Vietnam yesterday (Wednesday) more than two years after the Viet Cong had laid siege and bombarded it with rockets and artillery. One of the first American troops to return to the base said it was "misty, isolated and unpleasantly quiet."
