    A BIG ATTRACTION AT AIR DISPLAYS IN MANY COUNTRIES IS THE PARACHUTING TEAM OF BRITAIN'S ROYAL AIR FORCE. TODAY (WEDNESDAY) THEY DEMONSTRATED WHY THEY ARE SO POPULAR WITH A FREE-FALL DISPLAY OVER ABINGDON, WEST OF LONDON.

    THE TEAM, WHICH CALLS ITSELF THE FALCONS, HAS 12 MEMBERS - ALL PARACHUTE JUMPING INSTRUCTORS. THEY ARE ABOUT TO BEGIN THEIR SIXTH DISPLAY SEASON, WITH VISITS TO AIR SHOWS IN NORWAY, DENMARK, BELGIUM, ITALY AND CANADA.

    THEY JUMP FORM 12,000 FEET (3650 METRES) AND FREE-FALL TO 2,000 FEET (600 METRES) - A 60-SECOND DIVE - BEFORE OPENING THEIR PARACHUTES AND HEADING FOR THE GROUND TARGET MARKER.
