Algeria's Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdel Aziz Bouteflika on Sunday (9 April) continued his talks with the visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mr. Mourad Ghaleb.
Little is known of the substance of the talks, but it is understood joint Arab action against Israel is on the agenda--and following a later meeting with President Boumedienne it was announced that a visit to Algeria by Egypt's President Sadat would take place later this month.
SYNOPSIS: A warm greeting at Algiers Airport on Friday for Egypt's Foreign Minister, Mr. Ghaleb. His Algerian counterpart Mr. Bouteflika greeted him at the beginning of a four-day visit to Algeria.
Mr. Ghaleb was given a formal airport welcome and it is understood that his visit is seen in Algerian Government circles as having special significance. Algeria is one of Egypt's staunchest allies in the Middle East and has repeatedly rejected the idea of a political solution in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Mr. Ghaleb's visit includes many hours of talks in private with Mr. Bouteflika. Later, after a meeting with President Boumedienne, Mr. Ghaleb announced that Egypt's President Sadat would be visiting Algeria later this month. Before the talks began--time for the two ministers to salute their two countries.
