    Prime Minister Eisaku Sato said in an interview in Tokyo this week that he did not think President Nixon should visit Japan on his way to the People's Republic of China. Mr Sato gave his views on President Nixon's trip in an interview with National Broadcasting Company correspondent John Rich. During the same interview Mr Sato said that his country would not retaliate against the United States for having imposed a ten per cent import surcharge.

    The interview is carried out with the help of an interpreter.
