  • Description

Following yesterdays upheaval in the Salisbury area, where riots started in the Highfield township near Salisbury, today was quiet, so far. However Joshua Nkomo the Nationalist leader is likely stir up trouble again when he arrives back in Salisbury after appearing in the magistrates court yesterday in Umtali, and police are at this time on the main road, to arrest him on his journey back. In the township heavily armed police are patrolling, and all transport is guarded. When the people go home tonight, there might possibly be an unsurge of violence by his supporters, most of whom are out of work thugs, who have intimidated the population, and who yesterday tried to cause a strike of all workers. This dismally failed, and the police shot two dead, and arrested many dozen for thuggery, intimidation and other violent reasons.
