    MR WILSON AND PRESIDENT JOHNSON AND REPORTED TO HAVE DISCUSSED THEIR PLANNED AFTER DINNER SPEECHES AT A WHITE HOUSE BANQUET, IN WHICH MR WILSON URGED THE UNITED STATES TO PURSUE THE POLICY OF RESTRAINING THE CONFLICT AND NOT ABANDON THE IDEA OF A NEGOTIATED SETTLEMENT.

    MR WILSON YESTERDAY FOUND TIME TO MEET A GROUP OF UNITED STATES BOY SCOUTS. HE SPENT SOME TIME WITH THE SCOUTS, TELLING OF HIS BOY SCOUTING EXPERIENCES.

    THE MAJOR IMPACT OF MR WILSON'S VISIT CAME LAST NIGHT DURING A WHITE HOUSE DINNER. HE ENDORSED PRESIDENT JOHNSON'S HANDLING OF THE VIETNAM CONFLICT AND GAVE THE BRITISH GOVERNMENTS' BACKING TO THE UNITED STATES WHILE URGING THERE SHOULD BE NO ESCALATION.
