Background: The trial of six people -- four of them Israelis -- on charges of complicity in the Killing of a Moroccan waiter and spying opens in Oslo, Norway on Monday (7 January).
Mr. Ahmed Bouchiki was killed in a street in the town of Lillehammer on July 21. The following day four people were arrested. A few days later two more were arrested at the Oslo residence of the Israeli Embassy's Security Officer. The six face maximum prison sentences of life imprisonment.
Police investigations have disclosed that Mr. Bouchiki had connections with Arabs visiting Norway, and that he travelled abroad, especially to France, more or less regularly. He is suspected of having been a contact for Arab underground organisations.
Mr. Bouchikis murder caused shock and anxiety throughout Norway at the time ... It was the first political assassination in Norway in peacetime.
