Italian police have had a major success in their efforts to deal with an outbreak of kidnappings.

Angelo Appolloni was abducted one day before the kidnapping of former Italian Premier, Aldo Moro, by members of the Red Brigades. His whereabouts are still unknown, but police were hopeful that useful information may are still unknown, but police were hopeful that useful information may be gained from a suspected member of the Red Brigades who is in hospital after being wounded in a fatal attack on a prison guard in Turin, who worked at the jail where 15 Red Brigades members are being held.

On Monday night (10 April) police captured two men picking up a ransom of 317 thousand dollars U.S. for the kidnap of 16 year old Michaela Marconi, the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. On Wednesday (12 April) they stormed a country hideout and secured her release.
SYNOPSIS: A few hours later, police intercepted three men transferring kidnapped building magnate, Angelo Appolloni from one hideout to another in the boot of a car. The kidnappers believed to be from the same gang that kidnapped Michaela Marconi fought a gunbattle with police and escaped.
Angelo Appolloni lying handcuffed in the boot was wounded in the shoulder but not seriously enough to stop him from, hugging a policeman saying " I can't believe it. I can't believe it. I,m free." Appolloni was missing the tip of one finger that his kidnappers cut off and sent to his family with a ransom demand. Mr. Apolloni was kidnapped on March the 15th. Four months earlier another attempt to kidnap him was foiled.
